Getting All Caught Up: Meeting Another Pen-Pal & Trip to Odaiba!

Wow, what a whirlwind. I realized it’s been three months since I’ve posted about my Study Abroad trip, language learning, and anything in the realm of education. I’ve made some pretty long, and personal videos since then! Due to the experiences and videos piling up, I’ll probably space out posts beginning with events since the start of 2015.

To start this tedious process of getting everyone who follows this blog up to date, I’ll start with a video I posted on Jan. 3, 2015 when I got to meet yet ANOTHER pen pal in Odaiba! I’ve been writing and interacting with 3 key people in my life who always encourage me in my Japanese Language Learning journey. And it will be a lifelong journey at that! I was lucky that two of my pen-pals were attending university in Tokyo and were willing to meet me in person! I got to see the famous Gundam and hang out with my pen pal!!

Here is a video of my experience that day! It is something I’ll never forget, and it re-inforces the positive side of the internet as a tool in language learning. I could never have dreamed of using technology even just 10 years ago as a teen to learn Japanese, and here I was meeting my pen pal in PERSON!! She is the best, and I wish her the best in her professional life to come. I know she’ll become better and better at English as time goes on.

I got to experience lucky boxes/bags, something that is a tradition in Japan. You pay a certain amount of money to purchase a lucky box/bag, and the contents inside are a surprise! I made a video of a lucky bag I purchased on Takeshita Dori as well, which you can view here, I was really happy with the contents:

That’s all for this post! If you have anything to say, let me know in the comments below, or on YouTube and I’ll be happy to respond as soon as I can!
